Q: There is not enough time for me to obtain a language proficiency certificate before the application deadline. What do I do?

A: If you are required to submit a proof of English language proficiency but cannot do so by the deadline, your application may still be considered.

If you have taken the test but are still waiting for the results on the application deadline, you can upload a screen shot or other proof of having taken the test. You can then send the results as soon as you have them.

In this case you will be urged to provide the proof by deadlines specified by the MESPOM Consortium Co-ordinator.

What is an 'official translation' of my degrees and transcripts?

An official English translation bears the stamp and signature of a sworn translator or an authorized official of the institution that has issued the original. It should contain the stamp and signature on each page or over a folded and fastened corner of the document, and include a statement of authenticity in English.

Q: Can I send my MESPOM application to Lund University, the University of Manchester or the University of the Aegean?

A: No. In order to streamline the application process, the MESPOM Consortium has decided that all applications should be submitted to Central European University. So please submit your on-line application form and send all the supporting documents to CEU as described in the How to Apply section.

Q: Do I have to pay the CEU application fee if I'm a MESPOM applicant?

A: Yes, the application fee also applies to all MESPOM applications as CEU has to process all applications.

Q: How do I apply for a scholarship or financial aid?

All eligibible applicants applying by the January 15, 2018 deadline will be considered for a scholarship unless they do not wish to. There is no separate application form to fill in. To be considered for EMJMD funding you must fill out the Declaration Form for EMJMD and obtain a residence certificate, which you will upload as part of your application on the online portal.

Q: How do I obtain a residence certificate for the Erasmus + application requirement? 

A: The residence certificate needs to be issued in accordance with your municipality's normal registration rules. It will be an official document which prooves your residency of where you currently live. It must be an officially copy in English or an official English translation of the original document and must have been issued within 12 months before the application deadline. 

Applicants selected for an Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degree scholarship will be required to submit the original of the uploaded document at the time of enrollment. If you have questions about the validity of the form you can obtain, please contact or the CEU Admissions office at

If it's impossible for you to get this type of form because it's not issued in the area of the world where you live, please email to ask about alternatives. 

Types of documents that are NOT accepted in place of the residence cerficate are passports, driver's licences, bills, bank statements, etc.

Q: Am I required to fill out the Declaration Form? What is it?

The Declaration Form for EMJMD is also found on the MESPOM How to Apply section of the website, along with instructions for the entire application. This form is required and you must fill out information about the countries you have been living in the last five years as well as a declaration of all EMJMD programs (besides MESPOM) you are applying to. If you are applying to both MESPOM tracks (Lund and Manchester) that is considered only one EMJMD.

Q: How should I submit my references?

Candidates need to register the referees in the relevant section of the online application form. Referees will receive an automated message containing a link to the referee section AFTER the candidate successfully submits the application form and pays the appliaction fee,  and will have 21 days to complete the recommendation form/upload the recommendation (the link to the referee section expires after 21 days following receipt of the automated email).

Applicants are advised to remind their referees of the deadline for submitting recommendation letters and that the automated messages sent from the SITS application form may be received as spam and they should be found in the appropriate spam folder of mailboxes.

References sent via email, fax or regular postal mail are not acceptable.

Q: Who do I contact for assistance with questions I have during the application process?

For all general inquires about the program, please send an email to If you do not receive an immediate response, please be patient and you will hear back soon. The MESPOM program receives a high volume of emails during the application period, especially in the few weeks before the deadline. 

For technical problems with the application online, email the CEU IT Department (see previous question). The MESPOM coordinators do not access the online applications at this stage. 

The Admissions Department can also help with some general queries, and can be contacted at If it's a question related to the MESPOM program specifically, contact the MESPOM coordinator. If it's more general, related to CEU, or otherwise the Admissions Department is a possible resource.

There is a forum of potential students who can discuss the application process on our Facebook page. Please be aware that although it can be very useful to receive help from fellow applicants, you may want to confirm the answers to technical questions with the MESPOM staff (e.g. what type of form is acceptable, etc.)

Q: I have submitted my application but realized I made a mistake, or need to add something. What do I do?

No changes can be made to the application after it's been submitted. However, after the deadline an initial review of the applications will be made and if you are missing something important, the Admissions Department will contact you. You should be prepared to send them the missing document or corrected document as soon as possible.
