Chunsheng Yao '10 (China)
Although I have graduated more than a year ago, from time to time I still think about the wonderful years of MESPOM. Apart from meeting interesting and clever classmates, I've got excellent academic training in the field of environmental management and policy, especially during my study in IIIEE, Lund University.
After graduation, I worked for the Global Environmental Institute based in Beijing, a renowned NGO aiming to design and implement market-based models for solving environmental problems in order to achieve economic, ecological and social sustainable development. One of my main tasks at GEI was to study the relation between the change of rural energy and the responding impact on climate change, which was also relevant to my master thesis. With help of other colleagues, our research article titled “Analysis of rural residential energy consumption and corresponding carbon emissions in China” was accepted and published recently by the leading authoritative journal on energy policy the International Journal of the Political, Economic, Planning, Environmental and Social Aspects of Energy. As the leading author, I would like to give my sincere thanks to the professors of MESPOM, who provided me with outstanding academic training, and also share my joy with MESPOM community.
Currently, I am working for British Council at Chongqing, focusing on Skills for Social Entrepreneurs and trying to find sustainable business models for solving environmental and social problems.
