Begum Kurcu '11 (Turkey)

I am Begum from Turkey and I am really very excited to meet all of you and start MESPOM 0911. I graduated from Environmental Engineering Department of Middle East Technical University (Turkey) in 2007. During my university years, I held different internships in public and private sector which made me realize how much I want to work on environmental management. After graduation, I had a chance to work in REC (Regional Environment Center) in Turkey on a climate change project and then I have worked as liaison office manager of an environmental consultancy company in Turkey that was working as liaison offices of two big environmental clusters of UK. Before MESPOM, I also had a chance to complete Climate Advocacy Institute, organized by 350.org, the International Debate Education Association and Bloomfield Collage that encouraged me to concentrate on climate change.

My enthusiasm about the climate change, carbon trading and sustainability combined with my great interest in management and my experience in some project s encouraged me to choose MESPOM as a master program. Moreover it is very encouraging for me to be the first person from Turkey who will be doing this master. I believe that MESPOM is a golden opportunity for all of us in international base. We will have a chance to improve ourselves in environmental science, policy and management which makes MESPOM unique in the world.

After graduating from this international master degree, my aim is to become a qualified consultant on Climate Change, Carbon Management/Trading, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability
