Apply now to the Energy for Sustainable Development Online Course

Applications are now open for the next “Foundation Session” of the Energy for Sustainable Development Online Course (E4SD), scheduled from 18 August – 28 September 2008.

The E4SD Course aims to provide deeper knowledge of energy’s relationship to sustainable development and how the delivery of clean, affordable energy services, wise management of energy resources, and the leveraging of technological and institutional energy related opportunities can serve as instruments to reach that goal. Participants will learn about sustainable energy options, available modes of implementation, local resources required, as well as the policy and institutional conditions necessary to implement such options.

The course is intended to serve a wide range of energy and development practitioners and specialists from around the world. This group includes development stakeholders from government, NGOs, multilateral and bilateral Official Development Assistance (ODA) businesses as well as the private sector, engaged in energy and development activities in developing countries.

The E4SD Course is jointly delivered by the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE) at Lund University, UNDP, UNEP, and the Global Network on Energy for Sustainable Development (GNESD).

More information about the course as well as the online application form can be accessed at

Application deadline for the next “Foundation Session” is 15 July 2008. An “Advanced Session” of the course is preliminary scheduled for October/November this year.
