Savannah Carr-Wilson ‘17 (Canada) co-authors a report on a new water law in Canada

Current MESPOM student, Savannah Carr-Wilson ‘17 (Canada), has co-authored a report titled ‘Awash with Opportunity: Ensuring the sustainability of British Columbia’s new water law’. The report provides an analysis of the potential of this new water law: the Water Sustainability Act. It outlines best practices from around the world and offers clear recommendations for the regulation development of the law in five key areas: 1) Groundwater licensing 2) Environmental flows 3) Monitoring and reporting 4) Water objectives and 5) Planning and governance. The report also emphasises the need for a new partnership approach between various stakeholders to water governance in British Columbia.
