In June 2012, MESPOM cohort 2010-2012 had defended their theses and graduated. Student record offices of the universities participating in the MESPOM consortium are still working on dipomas, however full text versions of MESPOM theses 2012 are already available online. UoM research grant and university ranking

The University of Manchester has just received £50 million investment on graphene research from the UK government. Graphene was discovered at the University in 2004 by Andre Geim and Kostya Novoselov, who won the Nobel prize for their discovery. The opening line of the Chancellor of the Exchequer George Oborne's keynote speech in Manchester had a dramatic resonance to students and faculty: "Tomorrow's world is being shaped here in Manchester." 

MESPOM / University of Manchester student shines in British Council's international student awards 2011

A MESPOM 2009/2011 student spending her third semester in the University of Manchester has picked up top accolades in a prestigious competition organised by the British Council.  Chinese student Tian Peng has been named the North West Region‘s Shine International Student of the Year 2011.

Our congratulations to Yuliya Voytenko (1st batch of MESPOM), who received her PhD degree from Central European University. Her defense was on December 14, 2010 and the title of her thesis was Bioenergy in Ukraine: Sustainable Pathways for the Development of Ukraine's Agro-biomass Potential.

Manchester: Britain's greatest university?

This question was posed by the UK newspaper The Independent in early October as Manchester University, the distinguished MESPOM partner, now has more working Nobel Laureates than any British university. Two Russian-born professors Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov have won this year’s Nobel Prize for physics.

Alvin Chandra (Batch 4 2008-10) has been appointed to co-lead the Young Professional Co-Thematic Group for Disaster Risk Reduction at the Commission on Ecosystem Management (CEM) of IUCN.
