MESPOM scholars publish research findings on community health in Canada's north

Sylvia Abonyi (University of Saskatchewan, MESPOM scholar), Brandon Anthony (CEU, MESPOM scholar), and Soultana Stylianidou (MESPOM alumnus) recently published their findings in the International Journal of Circumpolar Health from an ongoing study of the social determinants of community health in Canada's north, particularly as it relates to the environment. This research has been graciously supported by the MESPOM program.

Arrival of MESPOM Students at the University of the Aegean touted in local news publication

The arrival of MESPOM students at the University of the Aegean in Greece has become an annual tradition on the island of Lesvos. Each year since 2005, a diverse group of students from around the world have traveled to Lesvos to complete 6 weeks of coursework focused specifically on environmental issues from the unique perspective of an island ecosystem.

In June 2012, MESPOM cohort 2010-2012 had defended their theses and graduated. Student record offices of the universities participating in the MESPOM consortium are still working on dipomas, however full text versions of MESPOM theses 2012 are already available online. Please check for updates!

The University of Manchester has just received £50 million investment on graphene research from the UK government. Graphene was discovered at the University in 2004 by Andre Geim and Kostya Novoselov, who won the Nobel prize for their discovery. The opening line of the Chancellor of the Exchequer George Oborne's keynote speech in Manchester had a dramatic resonance to students and faculty: "Tomorrow's world is being shaped here in Manchester."
