Scholarships
The European Commission's Erasmus Mundus programme provides scholarships to outstanding students to attend MESPOM and to third-country scholars to participate in teaching and research. Full details on Erasmus Mundus scholarships may be obtained from the Erasmus Mundus programme home page.
There are two types of scholarship offered by the European Commission (see for details DECISION No 1298/2008/EC OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL
of 16 December 2008). Students accepted to MESPOM who are not residents nor have carried out their main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in the the EU/EEA-EFTA countries (including Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein), are eligible for "Category A" scholarships:
All other students accepted to MESPOM are eligible for "Category B" scholarships, i.e., students who come from one the countries listed above, or have resided or conducted their main activity in one of the countries listed above for more than 12 months in the past 5 years.
The number of scholarships for each category of individuals (students from categories A and B) are determined in the autumn by the European Commission on a yearly basis. The "Category A" scholarship is EUR 42,000, and the "Category B" scholarship is EUR 26,000 per two years of study.
The European Commission reserves the right to extend the eligibility for Erasmus Mundus scholarships to citizens of certain candidate countries, e.g. in 2009 citizens of Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Turkey are eligible to apply for Erasmus Mundus scholarships.
One person is allowed to submit maximum three applications for Erasmus Mundus scholarships (at different Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses).
The European Commission also provides special medical insurance for all recipients of Erasmus Mundus scholarships for the whole duration of their study.
Other forms of financial assistance are available to good candidates.
